ACCOUNT & DATA DELETION
Last updated: 23 September 2026
This page explains how users may request the closure or deletion of a CHIPPIES account and how associated information is handled.
CHIPPIES Group Pty Ltd (“CHIPPIES”, “we”, “us” or “our”) handles account and data requests in accordance with our Privacy Policy, Terms of Service and applicable Australian law.
1. REQUESTING ACCOUNT DELETION
You may request deletion or closure of your CHIPPIES user account by contacting:
Email: support@chippiesgroup.com.au
Subject: Account Deletion Request
Please provide:
-
your name;
-
email address associated with your CHIPPIES account;
-
company name, where applicable; and
-
sufficient information for us to identify your account.
We may need to verify your identity before processing a deletion request.
2. USER ACCOUNT VS COMPANY DATA
A CHIPPIES user account and the records belonging to a company account are not necessarily the same thing.
A user may create, inspect, upload, communicate or otherwise contribute information while acting on behalf of a company.
Closing or deleting an individual user’s account does not necessarily mean that legitimate company records created or maintained through that account will also be deleted.
This may include:
-
sites;
-
jobs;
-
fire door records;
-
inspection records;
-
reports;
-
photographs;
-
defect evidence;
-
installation records;
-
rectification records;
-
project documents;
-
audit or activity records;
-
job communications; and
-
other company or project information.
This helps preserve legitimate business, compliance and project records belonging to the relevant organisation.
3. COMPANY ACCOUNT DELETION
A request to close or delete an entire company account must be made by a person authorised to act on behalf of that organisation.
CHIPPIES may take reasonable steps to verify that authority before processing the request.
Before deleting company information, CHIPPIES may provide or require an opportunity for the organisation to export information where that functionality is available and appropriate.
Company account deletion may affect all authorised users associated with that company.
4. WHAT MAY BE DELETED
Subject to applicable legal, contractual and technical requirements, account deletion may include deletion or de-identification of information such as:
-
account profile information;
-
account preferences;
-
personal contact information;
-
authentication information;
-
personal information that is no longer required; and
-
other information associated solely with the deleted account.
The exact information affected will depend on the type of account and the records associated with it.
5. INFORMATION THAT MAY BE RETAINED
CHIPPIES may retain information where reasonably necessary or permitted or required by law, including for:
-
legal obligations;
-
tax and accounting requirements;
-
security;
-
fraud prevention;
-
dispute resolution;
-
enforcement of agreements;
-
establishing, exercising or defending legal claims;
-
maintaining appropriate business records;
-
maintaining company or project history;
-
protecting other users or organisations; or
-
other legitimate purposes permitted by law.
Where appropriate, information may instead be de-identified.
6. FIRE DOOR AND PROJECT RECORDS
CHIPPIES may contain records associated with inspections, installations, defects, rectification, maintenance, handover and other work.
These records may have continuing importance to the company, site, project or asset after an individual user leaves the organisation or closes their account.
An individual user’s deletion request therefore does not automatically delete legitimate records created while performing work for an organisation.
Where appropriate, the user’s access may be removed while relevant company or project records remain associated with the organisation.
7. CHIPPIES CHAT AND COMMUNICATIONS
Messages or files sent through company, group or job communications may form part of the business or project record.
Deleting an individual account may therefore not automatically delete messages, attachments or records already shared with other authorised users.
Where appropriate, identifying account information may be removed, restricted or otherwise handled in accordance with applicable law and CHIPPIES’ retention requirements.
8. BACKUPS
Deletion from active systems may not result in immediate deletion from system backups.
Information may remain in protected backups until those backups are overwritten, expire or are otherwise deleted in accordance with CHIPPIES’ backup and retention processes.
Backup information will not ordinarily be restored for the purpose of recovering a deleted user account unless required for legitimate operational, security or legal reasons.
9. SUBSCRIPTIONS AND BILLING
Deleting an application account may not automatically resolve outstanding subscription or billing matters.
Where applicable, customers should ensure their subscription has been cancelled in accordance with the Terms of Service.
CHIPPIES may retain transaction, invoice and accounting information where required or permitted by law.
Payment providers may separately retain information in accordance with their own legal obligations and privacy practices.
10. ACCESS BEFORE DELETION
Before requesting deletion, users and organisations should consider whether they require copies of information held within their account.
Where CHIPPIES provides export functionality, customers should export required records before account closure.
Some information may no longer be accessible after deletion has been completed.
11. PROCESSING A DELETION REQUEST
After receiving a valid request, CHIPPIES may:
-
verify the identity of the requester;
-
verify authority over the relevant user or company account;
-
identify the information associated with the request;
-
determine whether any information must or may legitimately be retained;
-
close or deactivate relevant account access;
-
delete or de-identify information where appropriate; and
-
confirm completion or advise of any relevant limitations.
Requests will be handled within a reasonable period, subject to the nature and complexity of the request and applicable legal requirements.
12. ACCESS OR CORRECTION INSTEAD OF DELETION
You do not necessarily need to delete your CHIPPIES account to correct personal information.
You may contact CHIPPIES to request:
-
access to personal information;
-
correction of inaccurate information; or
-
assistance with account information.
See the CHIPPIES Privacy Policy for further information.
13. ACCOUNT SUSPENSION OR TERMINATION
CHIPPIES may suspend or terminate accounts in circumstances permitted under the Terms of Service.
Suspension or termination does not necessarily result in immediate deletion of information.
Information may continue to be retained where reasonably necessary and permitted by law.
